A DEXA Scan gives you a detailed picture of your bone health, body composition, and risk for developing chronic conditions.
Short for Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry, this state-of-the-art scan measures bone density, lean muscle mass and body fat. As we age, the risk of developing osteoarthritis, cardiovascular, and metabolic health conditions increases significantly, and the DEXA scan gives you a snapshot of your whole-body health to help you take control of your longevity.
Here at Hudson we offer bone density scans, body composition scans, and a complete evaluation (bone density + body composition).
During your scan you will lie on the bed of the DEXA machine while the arm of the machine scans your body, emitting two types of low x-rays that differentiate between bone and soft tissue.
The scanner then translates your x-ray measurements into pictures and graphs.
Following your scan, our team will walk you through your results.
A body composition scan gives you the most precise evaluation of your body fat to muscle ratio.
Going beyond traditional BMI evaluation, the scan assesses your body symmetry, visceral fat, and risk of developing cardiovascular and metabolic health conditions.
Whether you’re a professional athlete, fitness enthusiast, or just looking to update your diet and exercise habits, you can use your baseline DEXA results to track changes in your composition over time.
A bone density scan measures your total bone mass and mineral density. This scan is especially useful for identifying your risk of osteoporosis, osteopenia, and future bone fractures.
Regular bone density evaluations are among the most efficient ways to prevent degeneration and take control of your bone health.
Scans are currently self-pay only.
Your results are available immediately following your scan. Our team may schedule a follow-up telehealth appointment to walk you through your data.
